Sorry Gang. No Strongman today Wed 9/28.
It has been raining and pissing all day. I suggest hit the weight room, practice your Wing Tsun or stop by for a free class at Club Kung Fu. Also try lifting heavy things around the house, like your couch that your fat arse is sitting on playing video games because it's raining... or try lifting your fat Aunt Bunny. Carrying her up and down the stairs five times should be a good warm up. But remember she comes to Strongman more than you so she gets to carry you next, Puska. Today I already squated 405 about 10 times (getting weak...have to squat more!). Did clean and presses for reps with 135. Wrist curl x shrug super-sets and ab and lower back work. Then I lifted your Aunt Bunny. (Though she squats more than me!)
I love this picture because it looks like Coach Hoc! Sorry Hoc.

Welcome to CAP's SHS Strongman Training
If you want to come down and flip tires with the "old man"... do so at your own risk, I am not your mommies (even if I am prettier than some of them). If I tell you to scram--do so. We all help each other and WE ALL CLEAN UP. Bring water and an indomitable will. Check the blog 1 hour before you come down if there is foul weather or just in case--stuff happens. Subscribe by email or blog-reader to get updates (so I don't get 50 texts everyday). And, P.S. Meditate...It is the true Strongman Training.

(Wed. 9/28/11: Doesn't look good for today, flippers... stay tuned.)
Hey fellow psychos... Weather permitting we will be flipping Wednesday 9/28 after school 2:30-3:30 (approx). NOT this SUNDAY. I will be in Cape Cod shark hunting. They owe me money. Peace, love, and ass-kickin'.

Changing Up Your Workout
http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=40.98158604966961~-73.60104337667658&lvl=12&dir=0&sty=r&where1=Old%20Greenwich%2C%20CT&form=LMLTCC
Okay, changing up your workouts. We don't just flip tires here at strongman. Everything we do we do with the strongman mentality of pushing it to the extreme. So in the past few years I have taken up some "additions" to my strongman training for various reasons; health; time; and to keep my most important muscle strong: my mind. So I now swim in the Sound at Tod's Point in Old Greenwich as much as possible. Usually still doing cold shots through January. I also take Wing Tsun Kung Fu at Club Kung Fu in Springdale (awesome) (See link at the bottom of the page) to keep my mind and body sharp during the time when the field was closed and now I am in love with the art. (I highly recommend coming to try a free class). And most recently my wife and I bought a Sea Kayak. Crazy workout. We usually go when the sun is rising. And now that we have our own, on our second time out, we kayaked from Greenwich (Tod's) Point out to Great Captains Island (on the map above) and (Little Captain's Island) Island Beach. The trip was on a whim. It was Susanne's B-day so we were in the Kayak started heading for an island we had never gone to and from there... just kept on going. I think the whole trip was about 6 miles. We started at 8:00 and finished at 11:30ish am. Great adventure. We didn't know the islands were there or within reach of our kayak. The back and arm workout was supreme. So... Kiddies, mix it up. Get out there and seek adventure as well as flipping tires and pumping iron. As long as you do it with our insane work etchic it will enhance your workout and your life. Now beat it. You should be tackling lamas in Tibet by now! (I'll post some picks of the kayak.)

This week's gonna be tough fans
Okay... short week at the high and I am going away on Thursday until Sunday... so might not be any tires this week. Yes, I am a puska for taking a week off. I know. Yes, I know. But stay tuned because if the weather holds I might squeeze one in (that didn't sound good) on Wednesday after school. So stay tuned.
And dangit... sign up for the blog so I am not talking to myself. Though I like talking to myself. Okay... time for my meds.
PS
Just cause I am not out there doesn't mean you can't run or find a cow and lift it, girls. Get out there and pick things up, throw your mom's car around. No. Don't do that. Susanne and I kayaked out to City Island (one of the islands off Greenwich). It was fun and far and an awesome workout. So no excuses!

Here's some of the original crew who started the SHS Strongman Team at our first competition in 2008. We took 1, 2, 3rd place and Philly finished top ten. So, keep coming kiddies. You too could be um strong smelly and have a nice hunk of plastic to call your own. Yes, Kevin and I are still prettier than all you little girls.

Maybe this Sunday
Hey fellow lifters of Farm equipment... Looking at this Sunday but the weather might be bad, and it's my lovely's birthday weekend so I will keep you informed. Remember... If you flip it... um... they will... um ...come to flip too?

Abyss of Age and Heart
It has been said that when a man stares into the abyss and sees nothing staring back at him, how he reacts to that speaks to his character. It's also been said that when a man is 42 and stares at a 650lb. tire...if he doesn't at least try and flip it he should just put his balls in a jar, put on a diaper and start drinking strained peas from a sippy cup.
